Bénédicte Meillon is Associate Professor at the University of Perpignan, where she teaches literature and literary translation. She runs the ecocriticism and ecopoetics research group at the University of Perpignan Via Domitia and has organized two international conferences in Perpignan “Dwellings of Enchantment: Writing and Reenchanting the Earth” June 2016, and “Reenchanting Urban Wildness: To Perceive, Think, and Live with Nature in Cities”, June 2019. Bénédicte is on the Advisory Board for EASCLE (European Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment)and with the help of Dr. Margot Lauwers, she has created a network and Internet Platform dedicated to ecopoetics and ecocriticism (https://ecopoeticsperpignan.com/). Her research explores ecopoetics of reenchantment, focusing mostly on neoregionalism, on magical realism, mythopoeia, ecofeminism, with close attention to the interactions between nature, cultures and the texture of language itself.
She has published many essays and articles and is currently working on a book about the ecopoetics of reenchantment in contemporary environmental fiction by North American writers.
