Claudia Casper is the author of four novels. Her most recent, The Mercy Journals, a post climate change, post apocalyptic, story about murder, memory, and the evolution of the new, won the 2017 Philip K. Dick Award for distinguished science fiction. Human evolution is a driving theme in all her work, starting with her best selling debut novel, The Reconstruction, about a woman whose life is falling apart just as she’s hired by a museum to do an anatomically precise reconstruction of Lucy, the famous fossil of a female Australopithecus afarensis, a 3 million year old species on the complex bush of human evolution. In 2018 she was the Whistler writer in residence and a speaker at TedX Vancouver – How to Write Like a Writer.
